Paul Henry, DJ/Producer and currently one of the UK's most exciting underground House Dj's at present. Influenced by 'Deep House' from US, Electronica, Soulful, Latin and Afro-beat.
At an early age Paul enjoyed house music, especially underground New York/New Jersey, Detroit techno and Chicago house. He took interest through his older sister who lives in USA San Diego California and has done for over 15 years. Because of that connection he kept an eye on what the US was all about, but essentially the US musically.
Following on, Paul regularly tuned in to watch music shows screened on MTV every morning in the early hours, to build up his awareness, knowledge and feel for the genre, watching events which were filmed from various locations across the America playing all the latest house tracks to clubbers and viewers at different venues, and different places across the united states and South America. He also tuned into his local Birmingham radio station what was then Choice FM to listen to all the new and current house tracks being played across the globe. Back then house music had embraced him and gaining further inspiration from local house Dj's who were serving house music to the people of Birmingham, was to which from all this and amongst the other factors already mentioned Paul got hooked. It was then natural for him to get involved with house music.
He has carried his love and enthusiasm for deep house right through to this present day in which he now regularly performs across venues and big events across the UK and also now Europe. He will always continue to play what he loves and believes in, that is house music. Paul is known for his track selection being very selective and particular, not just settling on how a track sounds, he needs to feel the track musically.
Performance wise, from bars, clubs, terraces, unique places, random places, to exclusive night spots. As long as there is a professional set up in place he'll enjoy playing. In 2007 to date things went from strength to strength for him, landing bookings at major events with Franck Roger, Kenny Dope, Joey Negro, Sandy Rivera, Andy Ward from Soul central, Chris Woodward, the Audiowhores, Louie Vega, Manoo, Frankie Feliciano, plus many more, with upcoming shows alongside Halo, Kerri Chandler and Jihad Mohammed and also to mention a main room performance at PACHA LONDON
Paul has made his substantial mark well and truly and is looking forward to making an even bigger impact in from now onwards. His AWESOME new track 'Joy' is now released on LAD Records.
NOW LIVE AT Beatport – Juno – DjDownload – Ministry Of Sound - iTunes

This may come as a shock to most of you and some of you have heard this before. I am officially getting out of the showcase game as far as promotions are concerned. I had a great run but for reasons I'd rather not get into, I'm getting out while I'm still on top.
I have 2 shows left. I'll be doing my 1st and last Philly showcase on Wed 8/6 and my mixtape release party on Sunday 8/10 at Bowery Poetry Club.
I'd like to take a minute to shoutout a few people. First up, I'd like to
shout out J Hatch for being the first promoter to give back. Also for
occasionally hosting my shows. From 13 Little Devils to Masa to Remote Lounge, we made history.
Others who co-hosted with me are Shiz, Nancy aka Harabic Tubman, Playgirl and members of the IV Horsemen (Mental-Vision, Black Ink and Eddie Caine). I can't forget about L Dot who hosted by first weekly open mic at Lounge 225 in the Bronx.
I gotta shout out the DJ's that rocked with me over the years. Bedtyme, Drawzilla, Tiny-T, Los, Chris Kredible, Llama and Music Mystro.
Definitely gotta give major props to Gage who won my first contest at
Mission, Phenom who won my 1st grand championship, Nina B, the first female artist who won my contest and Dante who won my 2nd grand championship.
I'd like to thank everyone who every supported me (I hope you get this
email). All the artists, clubs, DJ's, bartenders and everyone else who was down for the cause.
Last but not least, I gotta shout out 2ew Gunn Ciz for all his help with the Philly showcase. I had plans for Philly but maybe Ciz will pick up where I'm gonna leave off. Anything you need, I got you.
Hey, I'm still the #1 showcase DJ in NYC and I plan to keep my spot. Y'all can always get at me to hold down the music for your shows. Also, get at me for wireless mics. Ace got that all day long.
Definitely get at me if you're looking to do a mixtape/album release party. I can mix and/or host your mixtapes too.
Once again, my last showcase is going down on Sunday 8/10 at Bowery Poetry Club. It's a mixtape release party for Unsigned Shines Volumes 3 and 4. Yes, I know it's the same day as the UMA's. For those of you who ain't going, please come to my party. For those of you who are, please come afterwards. I'd really appreciate it. You'll see the email about that later.
I gotta go and this time, I going for good. I'm still going to do the 2nd
Annual Unsigned N Indie Music Awards in December and the Music Notes Magazine's 6th Annual Networking Extravaganza in January '09. Stay tuned to the emails and my MySpace page for details.

(Wassup ya'll. This is Homeboy Sandman AKA www.homeboysandman.com Welcome to the world famous Homeboy Sandman email blast. We've got a high number of new recruits this week so I just wanted to start with a quick disclaimer letting everybody know that I had a significant show this past Friday in which many of the more seasoned members of this blast were present so a large part of this email goes towards thanking them and giving them a free mixtape as a token of my gratitute. Just so you know where we're at. Seeing as how you now get to reap the fruits of their labor you should be thankful to them as well.)
1. THE SHOW
As far as saying thankyou to everybody that came out on Friday, I don't even know what to say. THANKYOU. You are all immeasurably dope. Any one of ya'll hit my up when you need anything and I'll do it right away. Seriously. I really don't even know what else to say. I don't wanna get all mushy. I appreciate it more than I could ever express. What I am gonna do is write a song about it. So thanks for the great song idea too.
1A. THE FREE MIXTAPE
Until that song drops, as a small token of my immense gratitude, here's a free download of my new mixtape, "There is No Spoon." It was mixed by DJ Babeydrew (www.djbabeydrew.com), Chris Brown's DJ, who's crazy nice, and its got mad previously unreleased stuff that's not available on either of my albums, and some dope blends of stuff from the first album. It's nice and lengthy, like an hour and 20 mins. The rabbit hole is very deep. Spread the link around it around if you like. "THERE IS NO SPOON."
1Aa. THE REBROADCAST
For those of ya'll that weren't able to make it out and wanna see what you missed, or those of ya'll that were there and wanna see how prominent you were in the video, the entire show will be rebroadcast tonight Tuesday July 29th and Thursday July 31st at 8pm on www.ChillyS.tv.
2. ACTUAL FACTUAL PTERADACTYL IN NEW YORK PRESS!
Thanks to all the people that picked up fresh new copies of my new album Actual Factual Pteradactyl this weekend. Dope right? For a little while, it's only gonna be available at shows so come and get it, but in a month or so it'll be all over the internet (and maybe even in a store near you? There are whispers). New York Press has already reviewed the album and done a FULL PAGE REVIEW IN THE ISSUE THAT'S OUT RIGHT NOW on mad corners right next to the Village Voice bins. It's been out since last Wednesday. I wanted to tell ya'll then but I was getting ready for the show and didn't find the time. It's only gonna be out till Wednesday so grab a hard copy right now if there are any left and go straight to page 39. And if you live somewhere where there are no NYPress bins for miles, like me, you can check out the review right here http://www.nypress.com/21/30/music/music2.cfm
I was on a couple more of the big hip hop blogs last week too. Check em out. Catch up on you Homeboy Sandman research.
NahRight - http://www.nahright.com/news/index.php?s=homeboy+sandman
Big shout to my homey Donny Goines too. In addition to being an ill emcee he's also peoples. Don't only check him out www.myspace.com/donnygoines, but let him in your ear a little and if you think he's dope cast a vote for him for the Underground Music Awards.
3. I recognize that this numbering is kinda arbitrary.
Peace and Love.

It is with great pleasure to announce that Drahma Magazine will now have an official spokesperson representing the magazine for its upcoming issues: Ms. Drama.
Ms. Drama is currently the host of PNC Drama TV, which airs in New York City, as well as the on-air personality of PNC Drama Radio (www.pnc-entertainment.com) and Everywhere Radio (Sirius 40: Hip-Hop Nation) with DJ Bijal. She is known as the "Drama Queen of Radio" due to her heated interviews where she consistently puts new and established artists in the hot seat asking them thought provoking questions about their lives, careers, personal drama, rumors, current issues, and entertainment news and gossip.
Born in the City of New York, Ms. Drama spent most of her life growing up in Northern Virginia. She is often described as a southern girl who is in that "New York state of mind". Ms. Drama began her media career at Spelman College where she received her first taste of reporting. She interned as a sports reporter for the local news station in Atlanta, WABC-TV, where she honed her skills of writing and reporting for broadcast television. Although she covered local news with veteran reporters, her hands on experience consisted of interviewing entertainers, sports figures and athletes at special events and even in the locker rooms.
After graduating Spelman, Ms. Drama decided to continue her pursuits in journalism by moving to New York where she continued her education at New York University. During that time, Ms. Drama had her first taste of the Entertainment Industry. She served as one of the journalists on MTVU's show the Freshman, interned at MTV, VH1, and other Viacom Networks and wrote reviews as part of the Review Crew for Newsday. While growing as a journalist and a reporter, Ms. Drama's personality and talent for talk became recognized in the industry. She soon, took the advice of her mentors and peers and pursued her untapped passion of radio.
Although there was much struggle within the next few years to pursue her dreams, Ms. Drama started in the ranks as a promotion assistant at Hot 97, where she received her first real opportunity in Radio. During her time in promotions, Ms. Drama learned the ins and outs of radio and was later given the opportunity to train and help produce shows on all three New York Emmis Communications stations; Hot 97, Kiss-FM and CD101.9. She operated boards for live shows, filled in during overnights when needed, and was plugged in various production and on-air segments during the course of 3 years at Emmis.
In her second year at Hot 97, Ms. Drama was offered the on-air position for an online radio show in Brooklyn, NY. She served as the afternoon drive personality reporting entertainment news and gossip as well as artist interviews for a two-hour Monday Friday show. In addition to her comical news segments, Ms. Drama started to gain recognition for her edgy interviews and subsequently started to be called "Drama Queen" by independent and established artists. The name soon evolved into Ms. Drama a year later.
For the last two years Ms. Drama has been staking her claim in the industry as the "Drama Queen of Radio" and more recently as the "Drama Queen of All Media". With the addition of her TV show, PNC Drama TV and her radio shows PNC Drama Radio and Everywhere Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio with DJ Bijal, Ms. Drama has gained notoriety and often been referred to as the next up and comer on radio. She has already been compared to the likes of Wendy Williams for the edginess of her interviews and even as the next Angie Martinez for her thoughtful yet thorough interviews with artists. She is often heard saying, "My goal was never to become famous, but to do what I love to do and get my message across, I would hope that's what all real journalists would want."
As the spokesperson for the magazine, Ms. Drama will have a featured column entitled "Drama Juice," which will be a wrap-up of entertainment news for that issue, as well as featured video interviews with artists and exclusive audio that will be available in the DVD/CD insert.
For more information on Drahma Magazine and Ms. Drama please contact Ray Daniels at raydaniels@drahmamagazine.com.

Baltimore Club scene loses voice: DJ 'K-Swift' dies in accident at home
Baltimore Sun http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/music/bal-te.to.kswift22jul22,0,7649628.story
By Sam Sessa
Khia "K-Swift" Edgerton performed at clubs along the East Cost. (Handout photo / July 21, 2008)
Khia Edgerton, a pioneering DJ who as "K-Swift" became one of Baltimore's top radio personalties and a major player in the local music scene, died early yesterday morning after a pool accident at her home. She was 29.
Through her popular radio show, which attracted thousands of listeners each night, and frequent live performances, Ms. Edgerton helped reinvigorate and reintroduce the aging genre of Baltimore Club music to a younger generation of listeners. For local artists, a spin on K-Swift's 92Q radio show meant instant recognition.
Known as the "Club Queen," Ms. Edgerton brought a distinct style of music known as Baltimore Club to cities up and down the East Coast through her live shows. Driven but modest, she excelled in a scene traditionally dominated by men.
"She pushed the Baltimore Club scene on her own," said Ultra Nate, a Baltimore-based dance artist and international DJ. "You don't find that kind of confidence in a lot of women DJs."

Local Star
As K-Swift, Khia Edgerton never got a chance to become a mainstream celebrity. But for a certain audience in the city, she was a big name. Here's why:
Her evening radio show, "Off the Hook," brought in quarter hour ratings of about 28,000, making it one of the city's most listened-to shows.
Her CDs outsold mainstream artists such as Jay-Z in stores like the Downtown Locker Room.
She brought large audiences to local clubs such as the Paradox in South Baltimore.
Play on her local radio show could give a big career boost for local artists.
Considered an ambassador for Baltimore Club music, when MTV came to town, she hosted the special.

On the Web: 92Q's Web site
Defined by abrasive beats and vulgar vocal tracks, Baltimore Club surfaced in the late '80s. It has never found mainstream success, but it has a sizable fan base in Europe, where Ms. Edgerton planned to tour later this year.
"She had an enormous following and meant a lot to the people of Baltimore," said Howard Mazer, 92Q's general manager. "People just gravitated to her. ... When she threw parties, thousands of people would come."
Yesterday, station managers replaced the usual on-air DJ banter with a recording urging listeners to phone the station and leave memories of Ms. Edgerton. By the end of business hours, the station had received thousands of calls, e-mails and message board posts on its Web site.
"It's like a nightmare ... It's like she's part of my family," one caller told the station. "Your memory will live on. We'll never let it die," read another message.
The cause of death has not been determined, but Baltimore police spokesman Donny Moses said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
According to police, Ms. Edgerton hosted a party at her northeast Baltimore house from Sunday evening and into early yesterday morning.
Sometime during the party, Ms. Edgerton jumped into a shallow above-ground pool, but she didn't resurface. Her friends later pulled her onto a metal-frame deck that adjoined the pool and called 911. She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is pending.
Ms. Edgerton first became seriously interested in Baltimore Club in the mid-90s while she attended Randallstown High School. After a brief stint at community college, she went to work as an intern at WERQ-FM 92.3 and started spinning in city clubs.
At first, her mother, Juanita Edgerton, thought Ms. Edgerton's interest was a passing phase. But when she realized Ms. Edgerton's passion for club music and commitment to DJing, she encouraged her and marveled at her daughter's progress.
"She mastered those wheels," Juanita Edgerton said. "When she would put her fingers on that turntable, you knew DJ K-Swift had arrived. She perfected that."
When not performing, Ms. Edgerton was recording, or vice versa, her mother said. Ms. Edgerton spent almost all of her free time on her music.
"That was her life," Juanita Edgerton said. "That was it."
After roughly five years at 92Q, Ms. Edgerton was promoted to host of the evening show Off the Hook Radio. Through it, she cultivated a widespread fan base in and around Baltimore and helped shape the sound of Baltimore's club scene. The show had an average quarter hour audience of about 28,000 - impressive numbers for local radio.
"When [Ms. Edgerton] played a producer's song on the radio, that would make that person's career, as far as the Baltimore scene goes," said Al Shipley, a local writer who follows the city's hip-hop scene.
Unlike some other club music DJs, Ms. Edgerton wouldn't shout over songs, Mr. Shipley said.
"She wasn't an overbearing person," Mr. Shipley said. "She was the center of attention without seeming to try."
As her radio show grew in popularity, Ms. Edgerton signed to local label Unruly Records and began releasing CDs through them. Her records often outsold albums by major label artists like Jay-Z in stores such as the Downtown Locker Room, said Unruly co-founder Shawn Caesar.
"She was an ambassador," he said. "She was a much better person than a DJ, and she was a legendary DJ. That speaks volumes on the type of person she really was."
Ms. Edgerton was a motivated but humble woman who could easily make others feel comfortable in her presence, said longtime friend Eric Randall.
"Her talent was her ability to make you feel like she had your back," he said. "She never made you feel like she was too good."
Ms. Edgerton owned a graphics and production company and was the city's only female record pool director. Her last public performance was at Artscape Saturday evening. Later this year, she planned to travel overseas to help further spread the sound of Baltimore Club music, Mazer said.
"It's a terrible loss to all of us and the City of Baltimore," Mr. Mazer said.
Ms. Edgerton is survived by her mother, her father, Joseph, and her younger sister, Erika. As of yesterday, no funeral arrangements had been made.

Peace everyone,
There's been so much going on that I don't know where to begin. First off the Lakers and The Celtics are in the finals, Tatum O'Neal was arrested this morning for buying crack and the country is undergoing a gas crisis. It's the 80's all over again so pull out your skinny ties or your "Frankie Says Relax" t-shirt and put in a Madonna or Wham CD and "Rock Out Dude!"
People are actually saying "Dude" again. Who woulda thought it?
Alla that being said, The Gecko Brothas album "From Dusk Til Dawn" has been getting a lot of good feedback. We were nominated for "Street Album Of The Year" by the Justo Mixtape Awards and have been getting a lotta spins on college and underground radio (Where REAL Hip Hop lives). Just off the heels of that, we have just released our first music video for our single "New York Minute. We even got a write up in the Crys Breezy "Talking Videos" section on SOHH.com
Check it out here
http://blogs.sohh.com/videos/2008/05/tha_gecko_broth_1.html
As for the video we are getting a lot of good feedback. Its posted on the Spitkicker.com blog and it is also available on youtube.com. I am posting the link below. Let these cats know that New York Hip Hop is alive and well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR_Qt33sdFk
Let me know what you think about it. Good, bad or indifferent, your feedback is important. I'd appreciate it if you would leave a comment on the youtube page. If you really like it, then send it to a friend and tell them to send it to their friends. Especially all those ex-new yorkers who moved to Atlanta and are homesick. (We all know that there is no such thing as "New York Style Pizza" outside of these 5 boroughs mann!!!)
As for Tha Gecko Brothas, we are working on and have shot footage for more videos including "Tonight," "Wonderful" and "Tha Buckdown". We are also booking shows for the summer on that left coast so stay tuned.
Also, don't forget to listen to ya boy on the "Equilibrium Radioshow" every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm. Just log on to whcr.org or myspace.com/whcr to listen online or tune into 90.3 FM if you live in the New York City Area. Tonight you can catch me filling in for DJ OhSoKool on SugaTreats from 8pm to Midnight on the same station. I've got a lotta good music lined up so if you aren't doing anything listen in and call us up with your shout outs and requests.
For all my bloggers out there, If you can send me a list of the blogs that you frequent I would appreciate it as I am compiling information for a yet to be discussed venture. Lets just say that my peoples are about to get this blog thing cracking for real!! In the meantime, check out the Equilibrium blog at:
http://eqradio.blogspot.com/ .
We've got the past shows posted there and they are available for download. We also have free mixtapes and a lot of other goodies.
Til next time i'm out. Support your independent Hip Hop!!

Hi, Kurt
I am writing you on behalf of my hip-hop group, The DustMights. We would really like permission to send you a MP3 or a CD of our brand new track, 'Backhand (Radio Edit)' for consideration for airplay within your current lineup.
Our new track, 'Backhand' is an upbeat & energetic track against the current trend of some mainstream hip-hop acts diluting the hip-hop culture. 'Backhand' is also the first single we have released from our new debut album, 'When The Dust Settles…' which was just released nationally (& internationally) as of May 30th, 2008.

New Blood Music and Mic Fiend Promotions to Release “United We Stand: The Mixtape” In Support of Unsigned Artists from Virginia
Norfolk, VA – June 25, 2008 - Mic Fiend promotions home to the author of popular hip hop journal "Mind of a Lunatic" is partnering with New Blood Music to help up and coming unsigned artists get much needed exposure. The Mic Fiend, an industry vet, has just released a mixtape featuring unsigned and up-n-coming artists called "Certified: The Mixtape". New Blood Music is a website that is dedicated to bringing new artists especially hip-hop artists into the music industry. We feel that there are a small percentage of artists in the Hip-hop community that have real talent and that most of the talent comes from the unsigned artists. They just haven’t had their chance to shine, and we are now giving them their opportunity. This project will be the first in a series of projects that will be made available to help promote all artists in need of exposure on the web. We chose to focus on artists in Virginia due to we feel that there is a lot of talent of this state, and even with mainstream talent, that they are not giving their respect. So this will be the start of the Virginia movement.
Mixtape Details:
We are looking for the hottest artists in Virginia to be featured on the mixtape. The mixtape will be made up of artists from all over Virginia coming together in unity to represent that next big region movement in hip hop. I plan on having at least 3 volumes of mixtapes and then an actual album later on this year. The first mixtape will just be for promotional use so you know that means free. We are doing that just to build some sort of buzz. We are looking for original tracks and also a couple of freestyles for the project. We will be looking for around 25 tracks for the project. To submit your tracks email them to newbloodmusic@gmail.com with subject heading MIXTAPE. Appreciate the support.

Finally! Positive Message Hip Hop/Rap
Music Director/Program Director:
I am happy to present radio stations with a very
positive musical hybrid that consists of singers
and rappers delivering positive messages in an
effort to offset the ongoing negativity that is
being presented in much of Hip Hop/Rap music
today.
This unique group is Da Fam, with its freshman
release titled, "Family Ties." While presenting
positive messages based on members' personal
experiences without being "preachy," the act
also maintains a strong commercial delivery as
well as fun within certain selections.
The first single is, "All A Part Of The Game," and
I feel you will agree that the message and its
tempered flow is very reminiscent of the late
Tupac Shakur's and Will Smith's messages.
Check out this very compelling single (track #2)

You can hear additional samples from the act's
repertoire at http://cdbaby.com/cd/dafam
