San Francisco Revolutionary Poet and Activist Sellassie is an alternative in today’s hip hop or as he likes to call it “rap music.”  With his debut, I’m Tryin’ to Make a Livin’ Not a Killin’, Sellassie inspires with strong messages and dynamic beats, proof that there are young black artists that can make a career and music that is creative, street and smart.  In his early career, Sellassie has shared the stage with Saul Williams, San Quinn, Michael Franti, Ziggy Marley, Kev Choice Ensemble, Rebelution, Goapele, Pep Love, Mister FAB, Ise Lyfe, Deuce Eclipse, One Block Radius, Mavrik, Lyrics Born, Equipto, Bored Stiff, Baldhead Rick, The Original Radioactive, Queen Deelah, Bayliens, Mos Def, Netta B, Lee Majors, Sticman of Dead Prez Bayonics and Zion I.

Hello, I'm sorry to be deceiving, the president is just fine. Point is, it actually took a subject line like that to get you to open this email. It's that important. UnHeard Radio is not just "another" company. We are staffed by independent artists just like you that are professionals in the music industry. UnHeard Radio is the source for independent music promotion. Keep reading to find out what we can do.

It seems you have misplaced some information. UnHeard Radio is here to help you push your music career to depths you have only dreamed about.
How is that?
Well, for starters, UnHeard Radio has tons of listeners - we get you heard! If you would like to learn how UnHeard Radio increases your fan base and album sales, visit: www.unheardradio.com/learnmore.aspx
To submit music, visit www.unheardradio.com and click on "Submit Music". UnHeard Radio is monitored by RadioWaveMonitor and plays are submitted to the BDS system. Having plays on UnHeard Radio will help you get airtime from other stations.
Unlimited plays - $19.99 per month
500  plays - $7.99
200 plays - $3.99
Podcasts - $99.00 - (91,000+ subscribers)
We do have bulk rates for labels, entertainment, and management companies.
More information on plays here: www.unheardradio.com/airtime.aspx
-------------------------------------------------------------
Need Promotional Services?
UnHeard Promotions is dedicated to promoting independent Artists! We have multiple promotional packages from $400-$3000 and will also put together customized online and offline promotional services for independent artists and labels. Is your music good enough? Are you serious enough? Are you a hobbyist, or just pretending to want the "dream"? Labels only sign artists that have proven they can generate revenue. Have you proven that? Are you sitting around waiting for it to happen? Two words you should really think about. "Do Something".
We run into artists that actually have the talent, professional recordings, etc.. to make something happen. The only thing we find they are lacking is the ability to stop buying soda every month and spend money on their music. For some reason, most independent artists think the financial side of music stopped when they walked out of the studio.
So, you spent what,  $15,000 on studio time and didn't think you had to spend money to actually push the music? Good thinking, right? I bet you thought you were going to get signed because you had great recordings? Well, I'm not laughing, but the joke is on you.
Are we guaranteeing you millions of album sales, huge fame, etc..? No, if we could do that - we would be millionaires and never out of work, and were not. We can only increase the odds of your success. The odds are pretty low in the music business as is. Hell, most musicians could be doctors not once, but twice already.
UnHeard Radio's founder Mark Tower has been invited to speak in front of a 1000 independent artists and join a listening panel at the Alabama's Industry WorkShop on July 25th hosted by Reewine Enterprises, LLC  Maitland, Florida. 407-694-8024

"Let me start by saying that this isn't just about me, this is about pioneering and legendary DJs from Philadelphia who are not being recognized.
Just as everyone knows that Hip Hop's founding fathers are Kool DJ Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and Grandmaster Flash from the Bronx - it is common knowledge that DJ Jazzy Jeff and myself are the most famous Hip Hop DJ legends from Philadelphia.
When the first Philly DJ Day took place in 2008,
I was invited to attend and help celebrate its launch.
DJs from every decade in Philadelphia Hip Hop history attended and many group photos were taken of us to commemorate this day of unity.
Around the beginning of 2009, the organizers of Philly DJ Day received a proclamation, signed by the Mayor of Philadelphia, confirming an official Philly DJ Day to be celebrated annually. They proudly announced it. I was excited to read it myself!

To my surprise, my name was left off the proclamation though some of my friends were included...and was I naturally upset! DJs included on the first document included DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ AM (Rest in Peace), DJ Drama, Schoolly D, ?uest Love, King Britt and Rich Medina.
When I called Philly DJ Day to let them know about this error, they had not noticed that my name had been left out. They claimed that it was a typo or some mistake and that they would work on it. I wondered how something so important and final could be released and signed without review or edits.
By September 2009, the organizers said they finally fixed the problem, but when I viewed the updated document, it felt like my name was just thrown in for "honorable mention" and they changed the honorees around. At this point, I felt the second version aimed at pacifying me was more insulting than the first!
Please view both versions of the Philly DJ Proclamation at myspace.com/djcashmoney12
I wondered why other DJ legends weren't included on either document like the original DJ Spinbad, Lady B, Grandmaster Nell, DJ Miz, Too Tuff, Cosmic Kev, DJ Ran, Grand Wizzard Rasheen, Tat Money, Lightning Rich, Josh Wink and the list goes on!

There are so many DJs who trail blazed!  Maybe it would have been better to just call it Philly DJ Day, not name anyone and have it be all inclusive. However, if the more accomplished DJs were to be highlighted, it would have been better that we all sat down had a chance to offer our input.
If the proper history of the Philly DJ is not going to be told, it's better not to do it at all. I give Philly DJ Day an A+ for effort but an F for history.
Yet Philly DJ Day continues to include my likeness on their website knowing that I am not happy with the organization and therefore I do not support it. When the Philly DJ Day organizers sent DMC (the longest running, most legendary DJ competition) a sponsorship proposal for 2009, which included my photo, they were turned down because Philly DJ Day wasn't even recognizing the only DMC Champion from Philly! DMC supports me 100%!
Thus, some may want to say that I am being egotistical or hard to deal with for standing up for what is right but I won't be written out of history. I have been silent far too long about the cliquishness that goes down in this city. I tour all over the world repping Philly to the fullest. The fact that I won the DJ World DJ Championship in 1988 and am the only DJ to bring this title to Philly speaks volumes. I was also inducted into the Technics/DMC Hall of Fame.
A great DJ is not made overnight! You have to put in time, blood, sweat and tears.  You become known as a legend from your fans and fellow DJ's. I didn't give myself these titles, other people did. Rightfully so, I've earned my place in history. It's like discussing Philadelphia basketball and never mentioning Dr. J.
I would suggest that the organizers start over, regroup, sit down with the true legends and get it right."
Sincerely,
DJ Cash Money

2. Wassup ya'll. How you been? I been feeling great. I got a new blog up on www.homeboysandman.com about the frugal life. It poses questions such as, "if you eat cereal with rice milk, is it morally wrong to save the left over milk for use with future cereal?" I'm talking near future. Probably same day. I mean it's not like it's real milk that's got all types of cultures in it and whatnot.

TO BE RELEASED ON JULY 25th

Tosch is a techno-producer and dj from Germany. From many others he is titled "marathon-producer", 'cause he's doing more than 30 productions per year in every style. And he also produces for many other artists and labels around the globe.

Normally he's playing techno (straight, tribal) or hardhouse. But he is not fixed on one style. He can play funky, housy, groovy, trancy or hard. Maybe his style is "very danceable techno".
Tosch was originally signed on German-label Aqualoop (Hands-Up) and there he starts with his first release in 2001. But Tosch was not amused to be scheduled in only one style. And so he starts to produce "electronic dance-music".

Fuck you pay me…………………….

It’s been a long time people.  I’m sorry I apologize for being out the loop for awhile.  It appears ever sense I started the blog, and helping artists with promotion, that everyone wants to work with me.  I wish I could help you all, but I can’t.  As much as I would like too, it can’t be done.  Some of you don’t have the talent, and others just think they are too hot that no one can help them.  They think they don’t need anyone.  Now I know I have spoke on this matter before or at least mentioned it.  I feel that I must go back.  SUPPORT no matter how many of you responded to me it seems that everyone still doesn’t get the meaning of support.  Support: to sustain (a person, the mind, spirits, courage, etc.) under trial or affliction: They supported him throughout his ordeal. This word has a lot of different ways to relay the meaning.  Bottom line for all you hating ass people out there, if you support more you’ll get more love.

I’m taking this personal right now.  Here I am supporting artists; I’ve done free promo for some of you guys.  I’ve got an artist’s hooked up with an interview with a popular website. I went out and got sponsors for my mixtapes in order to give artists more exposure.  I dropped the price for securing slots on my mixtape. I even gave some people free slots just cause I like the grind.  Some artists just don’t get it.  I got 4 projects coming out in the next two months.  I’m helping promote one state, and I’m bringing some of the hottest artists from that state together for one track…..All free promotion mind you, and someone has the nerve to try and charge me crazy money to get on the record.  Buddy you not even on like that.  You had one good record awhile ago, and now no one wants to work with your ass. We are doing the record to show support for your state, and help with exposure, and your movement.  All you can think about is getting some chump change.  It’s not even real money. Smarten up artists; you cannot do this shit alone.  You will not succeed without the help of another person, and that help will come from someone right next to door. Do you see Plies, or Khaled, or Ross coming to your hood to collab on a track?  Did Weezy say let me get on your track free of charge? Naw, but I guarantee them artists didn’t charge Khaled for a verse on We tha best.  Nope I’m not Khaled, but you aren’t Weezy either.  You are local, maybe regional at best.  Connecting with people should be your main focus. You should feel honored if someone asks you to get on a track.  All promotion is good promotion, so I ask am I wasting my time trying to help you self centered, superficial, untalented artists? I don’t think so….

The music I get from artists is great I enjoy everyone’s record.  Let me tell you…When I listen to your tracks I don’t just listen to the beat.  I listen to what you say, how you said it.  What the quality is like, did you put the bars together correctly.  Is there hooks, bridge, are they being creative.  I really love listening to your music.  Now for the sake of someone taking this blog, and making me look like Young Buck crying on this joint I’ll stop there.  Just to say……..I SUPPORT YOU!!  Always will.  I will not support artists that think they are already on, and bigger than life.  You have a lot of money to make before you have the right to look down on anyone trying to make it in this industry.  I build relationships not clients.

So with that I say good luck to everyone in the industry from artists to promoters, producers, managers, labels, pr people, magazines, bloggers, editors, websites, groupies, fans, Dj’s, and just supporters..

For all you artists I’m happy to announce Mic Fiend Artists World Wide; An emcee coalition for those artists who truly know that meaning of networking, supporting, and promotion.  Hit me up for details on the coalition.

Dj’s didn’t forget you “Certified Fiend Djs” is accepting members to help break real artists, and real music…….

Finally someone who actually supports the up-n-coming & unsigned artist………….

The Mic Fiend

Yung Berg’s Girlfriend Dumps Him Because Of Comments!
Published: Monday - July 14, 2008 | Comments (1)

Seems Yung Berg has lost more than darker complected women as fans as rumor now has it that his girlfriend, "America’s Next Top Model" winner Jaslene Gonzalez, has kicked him to the curb.

“Jaslene was horrified when she heard what [Yung Berg] said,” an alleged good friend of Jaslene’s told Mediatakeout.com. “He's been calling and texting her - but she's not returning his calls. She doesn't want to deal with anyone that feels that way."

As previously reported by Yo!Raps, the “Sexy Can I” rapper went on radio show “Lip Service” and made some controversial remarks about women with darker complexions.

“I’m kinda racist… I don’t like dark butts… You know how some women prefer light skin men or dark skin men,” Berg said. “It’s rare that I do dark butts – that’s what I call dark skinned women…I [don’t date women] darker than me.”

Berg has since tried to apologize for the scandalous remarks but many of his former fans were not moved by his explanation.

Born and raised in a small town of Winterville, North Carolina Ronnie Run is a well-known rapper with a lot of streets credits.” I want to put North Carolina on the map and show people that there is talent around the state.”

Growing up around the Pitt County area was just plain and real for Ronnie. “Where I’m from was nothing different from your New York or LA. Living in the South; the pace is slow and the hard work is there.” Starting out as a DJ; Ronnie knew or thought this was something he wanted to do. “After the Djing thing fell through; I had a back up plan and it was rapping.”

Ronnie’s influences are God, my daughter Jocelyn, my family, The Sugar Hill Gang, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, 2Pac, Notorious BIG, Rakim, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, KRS-One , LL Cool J, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Jay-Z and the list goes on and on. “ I remember the first time I heard “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang and I knew from that point; rapping was something I wanted to do.”

It was during a school test when Ronnie wrote his 1st rap song. After that he kept writing until one day he pick up a mix tape and called the producer (VC) off the CD and the rest is history.” I called VC from Sick Man Productions and we talked and within 2 weeks I was recording my 1st EP ”Back 4 Tha’ Third Time”. The title track “4 tha’ Club” debut on the radio and quickly caught buzz around town as well as in other states outside of North Carolina. After the song appeared on the radio; Ronnie thought it would be a good idea to shoot a video for the song. “I got with my homeboy John RoRech and we ask Shawn (the owner of Club Dynasty) if it was ok to shoot the video there and he said it was cool.” About 2months later I submitted the video to BET late night show “Uncut” and within a week the video was being show before a nationwide audience. “I thought it was a blessing and a honor to be seen and heard on a level like that.” Soon after that; Ronnie thought it was time to hit the studio again and keep the street flooded with some more hits. “ I had to build up my fan base so that when I drop the EP “ Cleanin’ Houze” ; the fans would love what they hear.” It was one joint the fans and the DJ’s was feeling and that was “Bump Dis’ (Carolina Ridin’) . “I thought it was time to show the world how the Carolinas get down and let the know what we all about.” Now Ronnie Run is about to drop his mix tape “Hot Joints Vol. 1” with 3 of 12 tracks making noise as we speak you cant go wrong. “ Imagine Dat and Ghetto Life is making some crazy noise as we speak so I need to network these tracks and continue recording and hopefully get a break. Those tracks was produced by Kitaka”KI” Ingram for Kaotik Muzik and they are hot right now.!

I am bringing a whole lot to the table as a artist and I am willing to give 200% if needed and more.RONNIE RUN’S NOTE PAGE

Things to stop saying in 08
I just went through about 100 emails, and listened to about 60 cds.  I attend a lot of conferences throughout the year so I get a lot of material, and a lot of email.  You know what else I get a lot of?  Dumb ass statements like this…."  Yo I'm -----This my hit single I'm gonna change the game, or "Yo I'm the truth I'm what the game is missing! " I'm hot in the streets", I sold x amount of units already.
Man! Shut the Fuck up already, if you really was hot in the streets, or was selling units you wouldn't have to introduce yourself.  I and every other person would already know who you are.  Artists act like we in the club, and that's they pick up line. Like we automatically suppose to believe you first off, and second off just, because the kids in ya crew, and ya girls crew got you all on their top 8 on MySpace does not justify you being hot.  Lines like the ones above will get you deleted real fast fromm my email.
If you have to tell me your hot, you probably not.  I support the up & coming artist so I'm always going to listen to your stuff, but if 20 people come to me at a conference and say "I'm the next one", then; I can see you all fit the same mold, and you not really grinding to get your buzz up, you begging for a buzz.   If you want to promote yourself, and let people know you are hot; Put together a press kit, do a press release for the single, take an ad out with a magazine..Invest in your product instead of shoving me a mixtape with Sucka MC written on it with a sharpie.  If you can't spend money on yourself; why the hell would anybody else? Stop stepping to djs like you already on.  Humble yourself, network, and build a relationship. Find out who works at what magazines, and websites, do e-blasts.  I know what you thinking "I don't have that type of bread" No Duh if you did you would be on already making corny ass music with Young berg, and Ray J.  That's a different story.  Where was I?
Oh Money,  I know everybody want money for something.  No one sees the big picture.  Well my man Donny Goines is doing big things with no money, I see upcoming cats building a buzz everyday just networking and putting in a little work.  If you stop frontin trying to get in the Source, and XXL, and support these upcoming magazines you might get your buzz up.  Jump on these other hot websites like www.Wordofsouth.com, or www.yoraps.com  That's SUPPORT once again.  Then you can finally stop feeding people the lies of how hot you think you are.  They'll already see it.
Well gotta get back to playing Frisbee with your cds…
Untill next time………………………………………………………………………..!

Its that time again!!!

We have opened up submissions for the Independence Day mixtape.  ( for those that already submitted don't worry about doing it again) This one is going to be bigger than the last, Mic Fiend Promotions has partnered up with popular Ringtone Company Thumbplay.com, and Break Magazine.  We are not only giving you even more exposure, but a chance to make some money selling your music. Details will be disclosed to those artists that make the project.  I got another surprise for you.  Im cutting the slot price to $15.  Fifteen dollars gets you a lot of exposure.  Heres the catchYou know there had to be one.  Heres the thing if Im going to go hard promoting so do you.  I can get industry ears, but you need to connect with your fans.  So promote is the key word, the more the merrier.

We also are in the works on a couple tribute albums featuring all up-n-coming artists. Its crazy and hasnt been done before so be ready for that.

Make sure you check out Thadd Williams as the featured artist with The Mic Fiend UrSession page.  I will be featuring a new artist every week on a couple different sites.

Congrats to Phil Blount for making the Daily Dose on crackspace.com everyone go check him out.

Shout out to my man DJ Furious Styles with Raw66, he supports the unsigned so def check him out.

Keep your ears locked for another blog coming tlhis week on micfiendspeaks.blogspot.com

Until then Keep Grinding

Hustle Harder: The Importance Of New Media
Words by Donny Goines

Have you ever heard this term before? New media refers to things such as blogs, podcasts, internet videos, websites, etc. and basically is just referring to the new forms of media we use to promote and spread the word. I'm surprised that people out there still don't understand how important these tools are.

Many people argue that new media can never replace the "old" media (things such as print publications, physical CDs, DVDs, etc.) and honestly I agree. I don't think you can ever replace a good read from a magazine, or the feeling of buying a new CD from the store. But one thing is certain, times certainly have changed. Although you might find people out there that still love to do things the old fashion way, many are starting to gravitate towards the new technology. One of the reasons I believe this is happening is because we are a people of "convenience" (some would say lazy for a lack of better words) and we want things quicker, instantly and anytime we choose to have it. You can't go to a newsstand at 3 o'clock in the morning, but you can definitely log on to the internet and find what you're looking for. Blockbusters might be a couple of miles from your house, but the computer is right at your fingertips. So how does this affect your hustle?

This month I've been featured in two magazines. As of this year, one of my goals was to expand my public awareness via these specifics forms of media. You will start to see me appear on DVDs, in magazines, at the mixtape spots, etc. Because at the end of the day, this is something that can't be ignored. No matter HOW big my new media buzz is there are some people who just don't use computers. That's life. The internet is not the end all of this, you have to encompass all forms of media in order to succeed. This is my situation though (and you notice its sort of backwards right?) and the reason I bring up my marketing strategies is because many people do things the other way around. They focus primarily on the "streets" and in the process, don't utilize the new media out there appropriately. Make no mistakes people, new media is not an option, it's a necessity. I am a prime example of what new media can do for your career and you would be a fool not to utilize it. It's not just the websites, YouTube, the blogs, etc. It's ALL of these things combined. You have to really attack these media outlets (whether systematically or all at once) relentlessly. No matter how you go about this process just understand that it has to be done. There's no way around it so just embrace it and get ya hustle on.

As far as myself, I am in the "visual" aspect of my new media campaign. There is a reason that you are starting to see more YouTube videos and things like that. It's all apart of the plan. No matter how you go about it though, just make you DO IT, haha. Much love.

Paul Henry, DJ/Producer and currently one of the UK's most exciting underground House Dj's at present. Influenced by 'Deep House' from US, Electronica, Soulful, Latin and Afro-beat.

At an early age Paul enjoyed house music, especially underground New York/New Jersey, Detroit techno and Chicago house.  He took interest through his older sister who lives in USA San Diego California and has done for over 15 years.  Because of that connection he kept an eye on what the US was all about, but essentially the US musically.

Following on, Paul regularly tuned in to watch music shows screened on MTV every morning in the early hours, to build up his awareness, knowledge and feel for the genre, watching events which were filmed from various locations across the America playing all the latest house tracks to clubbers and viewers at different venues, and different places across the united states and South America.  He also tuned into his local Birmingham radio station what was then Choice FM to listen to all the new and current house tracks being played across the globe.  Back then house music had embraced him and gaining further inspiration from local house Dj's who were serving house music to the people of Birmingham, was to which from all this and amongst the other factors already mentioned Paul got hooked.  It was then natural for him to get involved with house music.

He has carried his love and enthusiasm for deep house right through to this present day in which he now regularly performs across venues and big events across the UK and also now Europe.   He will always continue to play what he loves and believes in, that is house music.  Paul is known for his track selection being very selective and particular, not just settling on how a track sounds, he needs to feel the track musically.

Performance wise, from bars, clubs, terraces, unique places, random places, to exclusive night spots.  As long as there is a professional set up in place he'll enjoy playing.  In 2007 to date things went from strength to strength for him, landing bookings at major events with Franck Roger, Kenny Dope, Joey Negro, Sandy Rivera, Andy Ward from Soul central, Chris Woodward, the Audiowhores, Louie Vega, Manoo, Frankie Feliciano, plus many more, with upcoming shows alongside Halo, Kerri Chandler and Jihad Mohammed and also to mention a main room performance at PACHA LONDON

Paul has made his substantial mark well and truly and is looking forward to making an even bigger impact in from now onwards.  His AWESOME new track 'Joy' is now released on LAD Records.

This may come as a shock to most of you and some of you have heard this before.  I am officially getting out of the showcase game as  far as promotions are concerned.  I had a great run but for reasons I'd rather not get into, I'm getting out while I'm still  on top.

I have 2 shows left.  I'll be doing my 1st and last Philly showcase on Wed 8/6 and my mixtape release party on Sunday 8/10 at Bowery Poetry Club.

I'd like to take a minute to shoutout a few people.  First up, I'd like to
shout out J Hatch for being the first promoter to give back.  Also for
occasionally hosting my shows.  From 13 Little Devils to Masa to Remote Lounge, we made history.

Others who co-hosted with me are Shiz, Nancy aka Harabic Tubman, Playgirl and members of the IV Horsemen (Mental-Vision, Black Ink and Eddie Caine).  I can't forget about L Dot who hosted by first weekly open mic at Lounge 225 in the Bronx.

I gotta shout out the DJ's that rocked with me over the years.  Bedtyme, Drawzilla, Tiny-T, Los, Chris Kredible, Llama and Music Mystro.

Definitely gotta give major props to Gage who won my first contest at
Mission, Phenom who won my 1st grand championship, Nina B, the first female artist who won my contest and Dante who won my 2nd grand championship.

I'd like to thank everyone who every supported me (I hope you get this
email).  All the artists, clubs, DJ's, bartenders and everyone else who was down for the cause.

Last but not least, I gotta shout out 2ew Gunn Ciz for all his help with the Philly showcase.  I had plans for Philly but maybe Ciz will pick up where I'm gonna leave off.  Anything you need, I got you.

Hey, I'm still the #1 showcase DJ in NYC and I plan to keep my spot.  Y'all can always get at me to hold down the music for your shows.  Also, get at me for wireless mics.  Ace got that all day long.

Definitely get at me if you're looking to do a mixtape/album release party.  I can mix and/or host your mixtapes too.

Once again, my last showcase is going down on Sunday 8/10 at Bowery Poetry Club.  It's a mixtape release party for Unsigned Shines Volumes 3 and 4. Yes, I know it's the same day as the UMA's.  For those of you who ain't going, please come to my party.  For those of you who are, please come afterwards.  I'd really appreciate it.  You'll see the email about that later.

I gotta go and this time, I going for good.  I'm still going to  do the 2nd
Annual Unsigned N Indie Music Awards in December and the Music Notes Magazine's 6th Annual Networking Extravaganza in January '09.  Stay tuned to the emails and my MySpace page for details.

(Wassup ya'll. This is Homeboy Sandman AKA www.homeboysandman.com Welcome to the world famous Homeboy Sandman email blast. We've got a high number of new recruits this week so I just wanted to start with a quick disclaimer letting everybody know that I had a significant show this past Friday in which many of the more seasoned members of this blast were present so a large part of this email goes towards thanking them and giving them a free mixtape as a token of my gratitute. Just so you know where we're at. Seeing as how you now get to reap the fruits of their labor you should be thankful to them as well.)

1. THE SHOW

As far as saying thankyou to everybody that came out on Friday, I don't even know what to say. THANKYOU. You are all immeasurably dope. Any one of ya'll hit my up when you need anything and I'll do it right away. Seriously. I really don't even know what else to say. I don't wanna get all mushy. I appreciate it more than I could ever express. What I am gonna do is write a song about it. So thanks for the great song idea too.

1A. THE FREE MIXTAPE

Until that song drops, as a small token of my immense gratitude, here's a free download of my new mixtape, "There is No Spoon." It was mixed by DJ Babeydrew (www.djbabeydrew.com), Chris Brown's DJ, who's crazy nice, and its got mad previously unreleased stuff that's not available on either of my albums, and some dope blends of stuff from the first album. It's nice and lengthy, like an hour and 20 mins. The rabbit hole is very deep. Spread the link around it around if you like. "THERE IS NO SPOON."

1Aa. THE REBROADCAST
For those of ya'll that weren't able to make it out and wanna see what you missed, or those of ya'll that were there and wanna see how prominent you were in the video, the entire show will be rebroadcast tonight Tuesday July 29th and Thursday July 31st at 8pm on www.ChillyS.tv.

2. ACTUAL FACTUAL PTERADACTYL IN NEW YORK PRESS!
Thanks to all the people that picked up fresh new copies of my new album Actual Factual Pteradactyl this weekend. Dope right? For a little while, it's only gonna be available at shows so come and get it, but in a month or so it'll be all over the internet (and maybe even in a store near you? There are whispers). New York Press has already reviewed the album and done a FULL PAGE REVIEW IN THE ISSUE THAT'S OUT RIGHT NOW on mad corners right next to the Village Voice bins. It's been out since last Wednesday. I wanted to tell ya'll then but I was getting ready for the show and didn't find the time. It's only gonna be out till Wednesday so grab a hard copy right now if there are any left and go straight to page 39. And if you live somewhere where there are no NYPress bins for miles, like me, you can check out the review right here http://www.nypress.com/21/30/music/music2.cfm

I was on a couple more of the big hip hop blogs last week too. Check em out. Catch up on you Homeboy Sandman research.

NahRight - http://www.nahright.com/news/index.php?s=homeboy+sandman

Big shout to my homey Donny Goines too. In addition to being an ill emcee he's also peoples. Don't only check him out www.myspace.com/donnygoines, but let him in your ear a little and if you think he's dope cast a vote for him for the Underground Music Awards.

3. I recognize that this numbering is kinda arbitrary.

Peace and Love.

It is with great pleasure to announce that Drahma Magazine will now have an official spokesperson representing the magazine for its upcoming issues: Ms. Drama.

Ms. Drama is currently the host of PNC Drama TV, which airs in New York City, as well as the on-air personality of PNC Drama Radio (www.pnc-entertainment.com) and Everywhere Radio (Sirius 40: Hip-Hop Nation) with DJ Bijal.  She is known as the "Drama Queen of Radio" due to her heated interviews where she consistently puts new and established artists in the hot seat asking them thought provoking questions about their lives, careers, personal drama, rumors, current issues, and entertainment news and gossip.

Born in the City of New York, Ms. Drama spent most of her life growing up in Northern Virginia. She is often described as a southern girl who is in that "New York state of mind". Ms. Drama began her media career at Spelman College where she received her first taste of reporting. She interned as a sports reporter for the local news station in Atlanta, WABC-TV, where she honed her skills of writing and reporting for broadcast television. Although she covered local news with veteran reporters, her hands on experience consisted of interviewing entertainers, sports figures and athletes at special events and even in the locker rooms.

After graduating Spelman, Ms. Drama decided to continue her pursuits in journalism by moving to New York where she continued her education at New York University. During that time, Ms. Drama had her first taste of the Entertainment Industry. She served as one of the journalists on MTVU's show the Freshman, interned at MTV, VH1, and other Viacom Networks and wrote reviews as part of the Review Crew for Newsday. While growing as a journalist and a reporter, Ms. Drama's personality and talent for talk became recognized in the industry. She soon, took the advice of her mentors and peers and pursued her untapped passion of radio.

Although there was much struggle within the next few years to pursue her dreams, Ms. Drama started in the ranks as a promotion assistant at Hot 97, where she received her first real opportunity in Radio. During her time in promotions, Ms. Drama learned the ins and outs of radio and was later given the opportunity to train and help produce shows on all three New York Emmis Communications stations; Hot 97, Kiss-FM and CD101.9. She operated boards for live shows, filled in during overnights when needed, and was plugged in various production and on-air segments during the course of 3 years at Emmis.

In her second year at Hot 97, Ms. Drama was offered the on-air position for an online radio show in Brooklyn, NY. She served as the afternoon drive personality reporting entertainment news and gossip as well as artist interviews for a two-hour Monday Friday show. In addition to her comical news segments, Ms. Drama started to gain recognition for her edgy interviews and subsequently started to be called "Drama Queen" by independent and established artists. The name soon evolved into Ms. Drama a year later.

For the last two years Ms. Drama has been staking her claim in the industry as the "Drama Queen of Radio" and more recently as the "Drama Queen of All Media". With the addition of her TV show, PNC Drama TV and her radio shows PNC Drama Radio and Everywhere Radio on Sirius Satellite Radio with DJ Bijal, Ms. Drama has gained notoriety and often been referred to as the next up and comer on radio. She has already been compared to the likes of Wendy Williams for the edginess of her interviews and even as the next Angie Martinez for her thoughtful yet thorough interviews with artists. She is often heard saying, "My goal was never to become famous, but to do what I love to do and get my message across, I would hope that's what all real journalists would want."

As the spokesperson for the magazine, Ms. Drama will have a featured column entitled "Drama Juice," which will be a wrap-up of entertainment news for that issue, as well as featured video interviews with artists and exclusive audio that will be available in the DVD/CD insert.

For more information on Drahma Magazine and Ms. Drama please contact Ray Daniels at raydaniels@drahmamagazine.com.

FEATURED PANELIST: Troy Malik McNish > Filmmaker Extraordinaire

Filmmaker Troy McNish has been engaged in the independent film arena for over ten years. Though he admits a large part of that time has been used studying the craft of directing, and producing independent films, he is ready to debut to the world his cinematic vision. Born and raised in Neptune New Jersey, he quickly left upon finishing High School to study film theory in Detroit, then eventually Raleigh NC where he currently resides. While in college in Raleigh NC he would work as a production assistant on many music videos including Capitol Records "Left field" by Yagg Fu Front.

Featured Panelist: DJ Chuck T > DJ, Entrepreneur, Writer, and Media Personality

He has proclaimed himself the “Carolina King” and the “Lord and Savior of Southern Mixtapes.” His avid self-promotion tactics and brash statements have been known to ruffle a few feathers. Yes, DJ Chuck T holds himself in very high regards, and has no problem proclaiming his opinion to the world. But what’s more important is that every word he says of himself is supported by his hard work and the respect of those whose lives and careers he’s touched and influenced.

Featured Panelist: Apex “The Ringtone Guru”
Apex started his career in the music business at St. John’s University. Running his own radio show he connected with some of the most well known Independent artists in the country and featured them on different segments of his show. He soon decided to run his own freelance marketing company that catered to the independent community. Through his duration of college he interned at places like J Records, Czar Entertainment, and Sirius Satellite Radio and quickly became a well known name in the independent scene. Once he graduated from school, Apex was looking for a career that would bring him longevity instead of a short term success. His dream was to work at a record label, but after interning for years, he saw it as only a short term job and very unstable. 1 month after graduation in 2005 he was hired at a start-up company called Thumbplay.com and was the 5th employee at the company.

Baltimore Club scene loses voice: DJ 'K-Swift' dies in accident at home
Baltimore Sun  http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/music/bal-te.to.kswift22jul22,0,7649628.story
By Sam Sessa

Khia Edgerton, a pioneering DJ who as "K-Swift" became one of Baltimore's top radio personalties and a major player in the local music scene, died early yesterday morning after a pool accident at her home. She was 29.

Through her popular radio show, which attracted thousands of listeners each night, and frequent live performances, Ms. Edgerton helped reinvigorate and reintroduce the aging genre of Baltimore Club music to a younger generation of listeners. For local artists, a spin on K-Swift's 92Q radio show meant instant recognition.

Known as the "Club Queen," Ms. Edgerton brought a distinct style of music known as Baltimore Club to cities up and down the East Coast through her live shows. Driven but modest, she excelled in a scene traditionally dominated by men.

"She pushed the Baltimore Club scene on her own," said Ultra Nate, a Baltimore-based dance artist and international DJ. "You don't find that kind of confidence in a lot of women DJs."

Local Star
As K-Swift, Khia Edgerton never got a chance to become a mainstream celebrity. But for a certain audience in the city, she was a big name. Here's why:

Her evening radio show, "Off the Hook," brought in quarter hour ratings of about 28,000, making it one of the city's most listened-to shows.
Her CDs outsold mainstream artists such as Jay-Z in stores like the Downtown Locker Room.
She brought large audiences to local clubs such as the Paradox in South Baltimore.
Play on her local radio show could give a big career boost for local artists.
Considered an ambassador for Baltimore Club music, when MTV came to town, she hosted the special.

Bottom of Form
Talk about 'K-Swift'
On the Web: 92Q's Web site
Defined by abrasive beats and vulgar vocal tracks, Baltimore Club surfaced in the late '80s. It has never found mainstream success, but it has a sizable fan base in Europe, where Ms. Edgerton planned to tour later this year.

"She had an enormous following and meant a lot to the people of Baltimore," said Howard Mazer, 92Q's general manager. "People just gravitated to her. ... When she threw parties, thousands of people would come."

Yesterday, station managers replaced the usual on-air DJ banter with a recording urging listeners to phone the station and leave memories of Ms. Edgerton. By the end of business hours, the station had received thousands of calls, e-mails and message board posts on its Web site.

"It's like a nightmare ... It's like she's part of my family," one caller told the station. "Your memory will live on. We'll never let it die," read another message.

The cause of death has not been determined, but Baltimore police spokesman Donny Moses said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

According to police, Ms. Edgerton hosted a party at her northeast Baltimore house from Sunday evening and into early yesterday morning.

Sometime during the party, Ms. Edgerton jumped into a shallow above-ground pool, but she didn't resurface. Her friends later pulled her onto a metal-frame deck that adjoined the pool and called 911. She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is pending.

Ms. Edgerton first became seriously interested in Baltimore Club in the mid-90s while she attended Randallstown High School. After a brief stint at community college, she went to work as an intern at WERQ-FM 92.3 and started spinning in city clubs.

At first, her mother, Juanita Edgerton, thought Ms. Edgerton's interest was a passing phase. But when she realized Ms. Edgerton's passion for club music and commitment to DJing, she encouraged her and marveled at her daughter's progress.

"She mastered those wheels," Juanita Edgerton said. "When she would put her fingers on that turntable, you knew DJ K-Swift had arrived. She perfected that."

When not performing, Ms. Edgerton was recording, or vice versa, her mother said. Ms. Edgerton spent almost all of her free time on her music.

"That was her life," Juanita Edgerton said. "That was it."

After roughly five years at 92Q, Ms. Edgerton was promoted to host of the evening show Off the Hook Radio. Through it, she cultivated a widespread fan base in and around Baltimore and helped shape the sound of Baltimore's club scene. The show had an average quarter hour audience of about 28,000 - impressive numbers for local radio.

"When [Ms. Edgerton] played a producer's song on the radio, that would make that person's career, as far as the Baltimore scene goes," said Al Shipley, a local writer who follows the city's hip-hop scene.

Unlike some other club music DJs, Ms. Edgerton wouldn't shout over songs, Mr. Shipley said.

"She wasn't an overbearing person," Mr. Shipley said. "She was the center of attention without seeming to try."

As her radio show grew in popularity, Ms. Edgerton signed to local label Unruly Records and began releasing CDs through them. Her records often outsold albums by major label artists like Jay-Z in stores such as the Downtown Locker Room, said Unruly co-founder Shawn Caesar.

"She was an ambassador," he said. "She was a much better person than a DJ, and she was a legendary DJ. That speaks volumes on the type of person she really was."

Ms. Edgerton was a motivated but humble woman who could easily make others feel comfortable in her presence, said longtime friend Eric Randall.

"Her talent was her ability to make you feel like she had your back," he said. "She never made you feel like she was too good."

Ms. Edgerton owned a graphics and production company and was the city's only female record pool director. Her last public performance was at Artscape Saturday evening. Later this year, she planned to travel overseas to help further spread the sound of Baltimore Club music, Mazer said.

"It's a terrible loss to all of us and the City of Baltimore," Mr. Mazer said.

Ms. Edgerton is survived by her mother, her father, Joseph, and her younger sister, Erika. As of yesterday, no funeral arrangements had been made.

Peace everyone,

There's been so much going on that I don't know where to begin.  First off the Lakers and The Celtics are in the finals, Tatum O'Neal was arrested this morning for buying crack and the country is undergoing a gas crisis.  It's the 80's all over again so pull out your skinny ties or your "Frankie Says Relax" t-shirt and put in a Madonna or Wham CD and "Rock Out Dude!"
People are actually saying "Dude" again.  Who woulda thought it?

Alla that being said, The Gecko Brothas album "From Dusk Til Dawn" has been getting a lot of good feedback.  We were nominated for "Street Album Of The Year" by the Justo Mixtape Awards and have been getting a lotta spins on college and underground radio (Where REAL Hip Hop lives).  Just off the heels of that, we have just released our first music video for our single "New York Minute.  We even got a write up in the Crys Breezy "Talking Videos" section on SOHH.com

Check it out here
http://blogs.sohh.com/videos/2008/05/tha_gecko_broth_1.html

As for the video we are getting a lot of good feedback.  Its posted on the Spitkicker.com blog and it is also available on youtube.com.  I am posting the link below.  Let these cats know that New York Hip Hop is alive and well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR_Qt33sdFk
Let me know what you think about it.  Good, bad or indifferent, your feedback is important.  I'd appreciate it if you would leave a comment on the youtube page.  If you really like it, then send it to a friend and tell them to send it to their friends.  Especially all those ex-new yorkers who moved to Atlanta and are homesick.  (We all know that there is no such thing as "New York Style Pizza" outside of these 5 boroughs mann!!!)

As for Tha Gecko Brothas, we are working on and have shot footage for more videos including "Tonight," "Wonderful" and "Tha Buckdown".  We are also booking shows for the summer on that left coast so stay tuned.

Also, don't forget to listen to ya boy on the "Equilibrium Radioshow" every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm.  Just log on to whcr.org or myspace.com/whcr to listen online or tune into 90.3 FM if you live in the New York City Area.  Tonight you can catch me filling in for DJ OhSoKool on SugaTreats from 8pm to Midnight on the same station.  I've got a lotta good music lined up so if you aren't doing anything listen in and call us up with your shout outs and requests.
For all my bloggers out there, If you can send me a list of the blogs that you frequent I would appreciate it as I am compiling information for a yet to be discussed venture.  Lets just say that my peoples are about to get this blog thing cracking for real!!   In the meantime, check out the Equilibrium blog at:

http://eqradio.blogspot.com/ .

We've got the past shows posted there and they are available for download.  We also have free mixtapes and a lot of other goodies.

Til next time i'm out.  Support your independent Hip Hop!!

Hi, Kurt
I am writing you on behalf of my hip-hop group, The DustMights. We would really like permission to send you a MP3 or a CD of our brand new track, 'Backhand (Radio Edit)' for consideration for airplay within your current lineup.

Our new track, 'Backhand' is an upbeat & energetic track against the current trend of some mainstream hip-hop acts diluting the hip-hop culture. 'Backhand' is also the first single we have released from our new debut album, 'When The Dust Settles…' which was just released nationally (& internationally) as of May 30th, 2008.

New Blood Music and Mic Fiend Promotions to Release “United We Stand: The Mixtape” In Support of Unsigned Artists from Virginia

Norfolk, VA – June 25, 2008 - Mic Fiend promotions home to the author of popular hip hop journal "Mind of a Lunatic" is partnering with New Blood Music to help up and coming unsigned artists get much needed exposure. The Mic Fiend, an industry vet, has just released a mixtape featuring unsigned and up-n-coming artists called "Certified: The Mixtape". New Blood Music is a website that is dedicated to bringing new artists especially hip-hop artists into the music industry. We feel that there are a small percentage of artists in the Hip-hop community that have real talent and that most of the talent comes from the unsigned artists. They just haven’t had their chance to shine, and we are now giving them their opportunity. This project will be the first in a series of projects that will be made available to help promote all artists in need of exposure on the web. We chose to focus on artists in Virginia due to we feel that there is a lot of talent of this state, and even with mainstream talent, that they are not giving their respect. So this will be the start of the Virginia movement.

Mixtape Details:

We are looking for the hottest artists in Virginia to be featured on the mixtape.  The mixtape will be made up of artists from all over Virginia coming together in unity to represent that next big region movement in hip hop.  I plan on having at least 3 volumes of mixtapes and then an actual album later on this year. The first mixtape will just be for promotional use so you know that means free.  We are doing that just to build some sort of buzz. We are looking for original tracks and also a couple of freestyles for the project. We will be looking for around 25 tracks for the project. To submit your tracks email them to newbloodmusic@gmail.com with subject heading MIXTAPE. Appreciate the support.

Finally!  Positive Message Hip Hop/Rap

Music Director/Program Director:

I am happy to present radio stations with a very
positive musical hybrid that consists of singers
and rappers delivering positive messages in an
effort to offset the ongoing negativity that is
being presented in much of Hip Hop/Rap music
today.

This unique group is Da Fam, with its freshman
release titled, "Family Ties."  While presenting
positive messages based on members' personal
experiences without being "preachy," the act
also maintains a strong commercial delivery as
well as fun within certain selections.

The first single is, "All A Part Of The Game," and
I feel you will agree that the message and its
tempered flow is very reminiscent of the late
Tupac Shakur's and Will Smith's messages.

Check out this very compelling single (track #2)
at http://cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/dafam-02.m3u

You can hear additional samples from the act's
repertoire at http://cdbaby.com/cd/dafam

The act's MySpace informational page is also at
